Property Becomes North Carolina’s First Full Service Hotel with AAA’s Highest Rating
CARY, NC, November 9, 2007 – The Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary, North Carolina announced that it has been awarded a Five Diamond rating by the American Automobile Association (AAA), the nation’s leading organization for motorists. The Umstead is the first and only full service hotel in North Carolina with the prestigious Five Diamond rating and the honor comes less than a year after the property opened. The Umstead has already amassed an impressive list of accolades, including membership in Leading Hotels of the World and Leading Spas of the World, and inclusion of the Spa and Herons Restaurant in the 2007 Condé Nast Traveler magazine Hot List.

AAA’s 65 full-time, trained, professional evaluators, called tourism editors, inspect some 41,000 lodgings and restaurants per year. Of that number, less than one-half percent receive the Five Diamond rating. The inspection is done anonymously with no advance notice to the property.
